How To Make Deep Fried Turkey For The Holidays

October is a great time to have a practice session making deep fried turkey before the big event at Thanksgiving. If you've never deep fried a turkey before, but you want to do one, then it's certainly a wise move to practice first. And, with Thanksgiving still more than a month away, you can have turkey now and again at Thanksgiving without getting tired of it.

So, get the turkey fryer out of the attic, the basement or the garage and get it cleaned up and ready for use. Haven't already got one? Don't worry. You can find all different models and sizes online. Buying the cooking oil is your next step. The most recommend oil is peanut oil, but be certain that no one has a peanut allergy. It's also a good time to look up some recipes for some dry rubs you might want to season your turkey with.

So, on to the practice run. After all, you don't want to wait until Thanksgiving to find out you really don't know how to deep fry your turkey. It's a time to be thankful and to enjoy your family. Not the time you want to start worrying about whether or not you can cook the turkey properly.

If you deep fry a turkey more than a month early you'll be much more comfortable doing it Thanksgiving You'll be working with five gallons of boiling oil so, trust me, you want that confidence level.

Your preparations should include checking that the propane tank is full and making sure your fire extinguisher is not only ready but also readily available. Next, gather together your gloves, goggles and all the necessary equipment and accessories. Keep everything you need together. You don't want to have to go searching for stuff when you're preparing the Thanksgiving meal.

Remember, as you are deep frying the turkey, there's not going to be any drippings available for the gravy. So you need to plan what you're going to use to make gravy. You can use the neck and giblets to make a broth. Or you can take the easy route and use a ready-made gravy. A deep fried turkey is very moist but you'll still want gravy for your mashed potatoes, so it's best to plan ahead.

If this is your first attempt, or if you're a seasoned pro, it's still a good idea to have a practice run. It will help to make Thanksgiving a little more relaxed and enjoyable If you're well prepared ahead of time your day will go flawlessly. Now there's something to be thankful for.
